A new study has found that US hospitals are not utilizing Facebook to engage with patients and develop their brand. The study revealed that only a few hospitals are using social media effectively, while the majority are not taking advantage of the opportunities that Facebook creates. Children’s hospitals are leading the way in the use of Facebook, with larger networks and more engaging activities. Key findings from the study include the fact that only 6% of hospitals had more than 10,000 fans, less than 40% posted daily, and 80% did not use Facebook’s discussion board.
