At DARPA, long-running effort aims to help address malware hidden in digital documents
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) SafeDocs project is developing tools to combat malware hidden within digital documents. The programme aims to help coders develop secure description codes for digital files. SafeDocs has so far created 13 tools aimed at addressing the threat posed by documents hiding malicious payloads. The solutions aim to eradicate ambiguity from the document formatting process, which, according to project leader Sergey Bratus, is a major source of insecurity.
