The American Hospital Association (AHA) has urged the US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions to convince the Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights to withdraw a rule restricting the use of online tracking tools. The AHA claimed the rule has harmful consequences and contradicts the existing HIPAA framework for data privacy. The AHA also called for Congress to harmonise varying state laws on data privacy to avoid unnecessary costs and complications for hospitals.
