Women spend $15.4 billion more annually than men on out-of-pocket healthcare expenses despite buying the same insurance products, according to a study by Deloitte. The analysis found women’s out-of-pocket costs higher across all ages, due to their greater utilization of healthcare services and greater likelihood of surpassing deductible thresholds. The study suggested employers could close this disparity at a cost of roughly $133 per employee annually.
