Ransomware is a growing threat, with two-thirds of recovery incidents attributed to it. Following an attack, companies take an average of 21 days to return to normal operations. In response, firms have started incorporating measures like immutable backups, AI-based threat detection and off-site storage to protect their data. However, attackers have started targeting backup systems and using ransomware attacks that threaten to expose sensitive data. Despite efforts to combat ransomware, no safeguards are fool-proof and organisations must continually evolve their defences.
