Cybercriminal gang ALPHV claims responsibility for a ransomware attack on Michigan-based McLaren Health Care, possibly affecting patient data of 2.5 million individuals. The gang threatens to release the data on the dark web unless a ransom is paid. It is still unknown which patients are affected and what types of data has been compromised. McLaren has involved security experts and law enforcement to handle the situation. Also, it has confirmed that healthcare services remain unaffected despite the disruption. Attorney General Dana Nessel emphasised the responsibility of organisations to protect sensitive data.
