Healthcare data breaches still higher than pre-pandemic levels

Healthcare providers experienced fewer data breaches in H2 2022, although the breaches exposed more individual records than before, a 35% increase. Hacking accounted for 79% of all incidents, and cyber attackers have begun to focus more on third-party vendors and smaller entities. Unauthorized access breaches impacted more records than any other type of breach. The industry is urged to remain vigilant and proactive in defending against these evolving threats.
