Teenagers among 18 people arrested over banking malware scams

Android malware scams are surging with policereporting increased cases since January. Scammers are duping victims into interacting with social media advertisements and downloading apps from non-official sources; this installs malware on the victims’ phones. The scammers then trick victims into weakening their phone’s security, which allows the scammers to take full control, stealing banking credentials, and potentially conducting unauthorised transactions.
