2024 Election Shocker!: Government-Backed Hackers Hijacked Mobile Networks to Plant Predator Spyware on Politician’s iPhone

Security researchers have claimed that former Egyptian MP Ahmed Eltantawy’s iPhone was hacked by the Egyptian government using the notorious Predator spyware. In a complex operation over four months, the spies used zero-day vulnerabilities to infect Eltantawy’s device when he visited certain websites. The hackers allegedly used a method called network injection to redirect network traffic to a malicious website, enabling them to covertly install the spyware on his device. Android users weren’t spared either, as a glitch in Google Chrome was exploited too.
