Google bulks up Android’s malware defenses to combat new tricks, including AI

Google is enhancing Android’s Play Protect malware protection to detect malicious apps that change identifiable features to evade detection. The company made the enhancement as a response to the increase in “polymorphic malware”. The updated protection system recommends a real-time app scan when installing apps that haven’t been previously scanned and notifies the user if an app is potentially harmful.
