Google Enhances Play Protect to Defend Against Polymorphic Malware

Google has enhanced its Google Play Protect tool to automatically scan apps for harmful elements such as polymorphic malware, which can change its code and behaviour to avoid detection. Play Protect is enabled on all Android devices using Google Play Services and analyses 125 billion apps daily. The new feature will be introduced in India before rolling out elsewhere. The move aims to counter tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which could be used by cybercriminals to create malicious code and polymorphic malware.
