The P2PInfect worm has seen a 600x jump in activity since late August 2023, with majority compromises reported in China, the US, Germany, the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan. The worm’s developers are reportedly operating at a high development pace, employing different techniques to breach system defenses. Notably, the malware’s goals remain unclear, with evidence of a crypto miner payload but no signs of cryptomining yet observed.
