The International Criminal Court will now prosecute cyberwar crimes
The lead prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) intends to prosecute cyberattacks that violate international law, particularly those that disrupt critical infrastructure. The prosecutor’s office to the ICC confirmed this stance, stating that crimes committed in cyberspace may potentially amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, and/or the crime of aggression. This shift in focus comes amid international attention toward Russia’s cyberattacks on Ukraine.
