Scottish NHS data breaches up by a third in five years
The number of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) breaches in Scotland has risen by nearly a third since their statutory recording began, reaching 1,354 last year. NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde reported the most breaches. In the past five years, the breaches included sending emails and letters to the wrong addresses, unauthorised access to patient information and thefts. The Scottish Government says it expects NHS Boards and other partners to respect patients’ rights at all times.
