In 2017, over 123 million American households had their personal information exposed when cyber risk team UpGuard discovered an unprotected Amazon Web Services S3 Cloud storage bucket owned by Alteryx. The California-based data analytics firm’s federal census data, as well as credit reporting agency Experian’s confidential commercial data sets, were left publicly accessible. Alteryx secured the system upon learning of the breach.
