Weekly cyber attacks reach two-year high amid ransomware resurgence

The average weekly volume of cyber attacks hit a two-year high in Q2, 2023, due to a spike in ransomware group activity. According to Check Point Research (CPR), the frequency of attacks rose by 8%, with organisations facing an average of 1,258 attacks weekly. The education and research sector was the most targeted despite a drop in attacks from the previous year. The healthcare industry has also been a major target, with a significant YoY increase in attacks.
