Energy Department looks to build cyber threat detection platform for electric grid
The US Energy Department plans to create a platform for monitoring cyber threats across electric utilities, as part of an initiative also covering the gas and water sectors. The project was kick-started by last year’s Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Initiative. So far, 150 utility companies serving nearly 90 million people have taken part in the programme. The Energy Threat Analysis Center will be set up to share information on threats and develop data-sharing protocol across sensors and technology.
