Government email accounts breached in Microsoft hack

Microsoft has reported that China-based hackers, named ‘Storm-0558’, compromised the email accounts of about 25 organisations, including ones linked to US and Western Europe government agencies. However, China’s foreign ministry dismissed the accusations as “disinformation”. Microsoft detected the breach weeks later when customers reported unusual email activity, and the hackers reportedly used forged authentication tokens for access.
