One million NHS patients’ data compromised after cyberattack on University of Manchester

The NHS data of over a million patients may have been compromised following a cyber-attack on the University of Manchester. The ransomware incident, which potentially exposed NHS numbers and partial postcodes, affected confidential records including major trauma patients and those treated following terror attacks. The University is unaware of the extent of the damage but did admit that 250GB of its data was accessed. The patient database has since been closed.
