The RNC Files: Inside the Largest US Voter Data Leak
A misconfigured database hosted by Republican data firm Deep Root Analytics exposed the sensitive personal details of around 198 million American voters. The dataset, which contained more than 1.1 TB of information including names, dates of birth, voter registration details, addresses and phone numbers, was secured shortly after federal authorities were alerted. The data was collected by Deep Root, along with fellow Republican data firms TargetPoint Consulting and Data Trust, on behalf of the GOP, to try and influence and predict voter behaviour.
