Dangerous new malware can crack encrypted USB drives

Cybersecurity researchers at Kaspersky have discovered TetrisPhantom, a trojanised version of secure USB drive software UTetris, which has been causing damage for a few years. The advanced malware, used to steal sensitive government data in the Asia-Pacific region, uses virtualisation-based software obfuscation and low-level communication with USB drives. Although the exact targets are unknown, researchers suggest relatively few government systems were infected, hinting at a highly targeted operation.
