Software Patches Stop Costly Breaches

San Diego city’s interim chief information security officer, Brendan Daly, compared patch management to fixing house maintenance issues to enhance security. He stressed its importance during Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Patch management can save businesses money, as unpatched software can lead to breaches with an average cost of $4.45 million. Good IT habits such as patch management can also lower insurance rates. The San Diego Regional Cyber Lab, launched in 2021, offers free security tools and resources for policy development.
