NHS IT supplier held to ransom by hackers

Major NHS IT provider Advanced confirmed that its system was hit by a ransomware attack. The Birmingham-based firm detected the hack on 4 August and is now working on restoring services, a process that may take up to four weeks. NHS stated that there was minimal disruption and urged the public to continue using its services. However, Advanced did not confirm if NHS data had been stolen or if it is negotiating with the hackers.
