NHS cyber-attack was ‘launched from North Korea’

siteadmin June 16, 2017

Hackers based in North Korea were behind a cyber attack that impaired parts of the NHS last month, according to an international investigation led by UK’s National Cyber Security Centre. The same group, known as Lazarus, is also believed to have attacked Sony Pictures in 2014. While the ransomware known as WannaCry may have been a money-making scheme that spiralled out of control, ransom payment was not retrieved, raising questions about responders’ future deterrence of such attacks.
