DarkGate Operator Uses Skype, Teams Messages to Distribute Malware

Hacker groups are using compromised Skype and Microsoft Teams accounts to distribute DarkGate malware which can perform various damaging activities such as information theft, keylogging, and delivery of ransomware. The majority of attacks have focused on organisations in the Americas, with DarkGate now being offered on a malware-as-a-service basis, leading to an increase in its activity. Trend Micro urges organisations to enforce strict rules around the use of instant messaging applications to defend against such attacks.
