Dutch hospitals underestimate impact of cyber attack

siteadmin March 7, 2023

Dutch hospitals have recently been targeted by pro-Russian DDoS attacks, potentially from group Killnet and collaborators, per digital security group Z-Cert. Researchers highlighted the risks of such attacks on patient care, including the closing of emergency departments and operation cancellations. There have been 39 IT failures resulting in acute care disruptions in Dutch hospitals from 2000-2020, 85% were primary IT failures. Dutch hospitals and healthcare must focus on improving IT security and business continuity, and prepare for recovery, emphasised researchers.
