The evolution of 20 years of cybersecurity awareness

Since 2004, October has been recognized as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month by the White House and Congress. Over time, the focus of cybersecurity has expanded from basic cyber hygiene to shared responsibility, incorporating human behavior online, built-in security, encryption, the formation of cybersecurity agencies, and ongoing campaigns such as ‘Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart’. Recently, a surge in the use of ransomware has highlighted the need for strategies like identity and access management, zero trust, and AI-assisted cybersecurity.
