Beware of this fake Chrome update, it is installing malware that can take over your computer

A fraudulent Chrome update, which serves as a Remote Access Trojan (RAT), is being exploited to initiate ransomware attacks and lead to financial losses and data breaches. Cybersecurity experts detected a new variant of this malware known as “FakeUpdateRU”. Google has taken steps to block sites distributing this malware. Experts recommend maintaining regular data backups, updating plugins and themes, and fortifying WordPress websites as preventative measures.
