NHS cyber-attack was ‘launched from North Korea’

The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) believes that last month’s cyber attack – which affected the NHS and other organisations globally – was caused by North Korean hacking group Lazarus. The ransomware attack, which demanded payment for the unlocking of computers, was on a global scale and was not specifically aimed at the NHS. The same hacking group – who were responsible for the cyber attack on Sony Pictures in 2014 – are also believed to have previously stolen money from banks.
