Six victims scammed out of HK$680k after downloading malware by clicking travel ads

Scammers used fake ads promoting discounted travel, electronics and fuel to trick at least six victims into downloading malware on their mobile devices. The victims lost a total of HK$680,000 ($87,440) between them. The police have urged the public to only download apps from official channels and to run all apps through a scam search engine.
