IoT Malware Attacks Spike 400% in 2023, Zscaler Report

A 2023 Zscaler report reveals a 400% rise in cyberattacks on Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technology (OT) devices, highlighting the vast security issues in IoT technology. Worryingly, 34 out of 39 popular attack methods target old vulnerabilities. Malware families ‘Mirai’ and ‘Gafgyt’ are mainly responsible. The manufacturing and retail sectors, which contribute 52% of IoT usage, are the most impacted.
