Lanarkshire rookie cop arrests machete wielding thug on first day in the job

A rookie cop has been heralded as a hero after apprehending an armed criminal in a high-speed pursuit, four hours into his first day on the job. PC Ibrahim Malik and partner Constable Andrew McLaughlin of Lanarkshire chased down and arrested a local criminal after he and two others attacked their police vehicle. As such, they will be recognised in a Scottish Police Federation awards ceremony honouring lifesaving acts of bravery.
