Glasgow facing ‘homeless emergency’ with 6,500 in temporary accommodation including 2,600 kids
Over 6,500 homeless people, including 2,624 children, are currently living in temporary accommodation in Glasgow, prompting calls for a regional homeless emergency declaration. Campaign group the Scottish Tenants Organisation argues such a move would enable authorities to request emergency funding to provide more temporary accommodation and rejuvenate vacant properties. Edinburgh declared a similar emergency nine days ago. Glasgow previously recorded 2,200 breaches of Scottish Government legislation regarding temporary accommodation.
