Nuclear and Oil & Gas are Major Targets of Ransomware Groups in 2024

Ransomware attacks on the energy sector, including nuclear facilities, have significantly increased, warns cybersecurity company Resecurity. The firm reports that the number of known ransomware attacks in the US has risen by 47% between 2020 and 2022. Energy installations in North America, Asia, and the EU are major targets, with attackers potentially earning ransoms exceeding $5m. Resecurity predicts growing cyber threats in 2024, with ransomware groups targeting the energy sector.
