Skype Accounts Being Hacked to Spread Malware, Teams Also Targeted

Compromised Skype accounts are reportedly being exploited to distribute DarkGate malware, with Microsoft Teams also targeted. The malware was delivered using the legitimate communication network with third-party suppliers and changed the name of its script file to appear as a PDF. When downloaded and run, this second-stage payload included the malign DarkGate malware, with threats varying from ransomware to crypto mining depending on the threat group. DarkGate is a malware-as-a-service found on the Russian dark web.
