Remote access tool hacked by criminals to access healthcare providers

US healthcare organisations are at risk from escalating cyber attacks. Attackers are using access to an instance of the ScreenConnect remote desktop tool owned by pharmacy supply chain and management systems provider, Transaction Data Systems (TDS). Using this access, hackers have dropped malware, understood to be the Meterpreter malware. Security researchers at Huntress have yet to establish how the attackers accessed the instance.
