New York is proposing new cybersecurity regulations for hospitals, requiring them to develop their own programs, assess risks, and create incident response plans. The healthcare facilities can apply for funding from $500 million allocated in the 2024 state budget to upgrade their technology systems. The regulation also necessitates hospitals to use multifactor authentication for accessing systems through an external network and hire a chief information security officer.
