Cyber in the skies: considerations for the aviation sector

Advancements in the aviation sector, such as adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT), digitisation of air traffic control systems, automated aircrafts, and increased use of self-service apps, have greatly improved flight operations and security. However, these digital changes present new risks like data loss, misinformation and system failure. Cybersecurity guidance and regulations need to be adopted industry-wide to mitigate these risks. The long lifespan of aircrafts also presents challenges in keeping technology up-to-date and secure.
