FCC wants to improve cyber protections for schools, libraries
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched a three-year, $200m pilot programme aimed at improving cybersecurity at K-12 schools and libraries. The initiative will collect data to identify the most efficacious cybersecurity and firewall services, and allocate funds to defray the costs of their implementation. Some advocates argue the programme’s timeline should be expedited to better protect institutions from escalating cyber threats, which affected 80% of schools in 2022.
