Indian firm, Appin, has been identified as a pioneer in the country’s “hack-for-hire” industry, according to a Reuters report. Appin began as an educational start-up but transitioned into providing hacking services. The industry is challenging to regulate due to the nature of individual hacking incidents. In 2020, Reuters revealed that email providers gave access to a database containing over 80,000 emails sent by Indian hacking firms.
