TrickBot malware dev pleads guilty, faces 35 years in prison
Russian national, Vladimir Dunaev, pleaded guilty to charges related to his role in developing and deploying the Trickbot malware which was used in cyberattacks globally, including against US hospitals. Known as FFX, Dunaev was responsible for TrickBot’s browser injection component. Arrested in 2021, Dunaev is now facing a possible 35-year prison sentence for conspiracy to commit computer fraud, identity theft, wire fraud, and bank fraud, with sentencing set for 2024.
