New proxy trojan malware shows why you shouldn’t pirate Mac software

Russian security firm, Kaspersky, has uncovered a new Trojan malware infiltrating popular premium macOS applications through package (PKG) files. The malware, which disguises itself as a WindowServer system file, was found hiding inside 35 applications including popular image editing and data recovery tools. Attackers can use the Trojan to produce a proxy network on the infected MAC, potentially committing various crimes on the victim’s behalf.
