NHS cybersecurity boosted by new government strategy
The UK government has unveiled a strategy to boost cybersecurity in the National Health Service (NHS) by 2030. A minimum of £15m will be allocated for adult social care cyber defences, while the role of NHS England’s cybersecurity operations centre will be expanded. The strategy comes at a time when NHS budgets are stretched, particularly as the health service deals with the increasing threat from cyber criminals, such as the LockBit gang’s ransomware attack on the 111 non-emergency phone line last summer.
