Cyber-attack targets IT firm used by Northern Ireland’s health service

The Department of Health in Northern Ireland has implemented contingency measures following a ransomware attack on Advanced, a digital services provider. Currently, there are no impacts on services like patient check-ins or payrolls. The whole system was disabled to avoid further risk and regular processes have been replaced by alternative ones. While the priority is to minimise disruption, resolving the issue could take weeks or months.
