Use of WhatsApp in NHS ‘widespread’, say doctors
Doctors and nurses throughout the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) are using Snapchat and WhatsApp to share patient data, despite NHS guidelines that ban such use, said GP Alisdair MacNair. He added that while attempts are made to protect identities, he has seen information on the platforms that “is one step away from being patient identifying”. Analysts warned of the potential fines the NHS could face for data breaches, while calling for a digital sharing system to be quickly implemented.
