SpyLoan Android malware on Google Play downloaded 12 million times

SpyLoan, a malicious loan app, has been downloaded more than 12 million times this year, luring victims with promises of quick loans but stealing users’ personal data. The app is also used to blackmail victims into making high-interest payments. The app is widely distributed via Google Play, suspicious websites, and third-party stores. Cybersecurity firm ESET discovered 18 SpyLoan apps, leading Google to remove 17 of them. Users are advised to only trust established financial institutions and scrutinize permissions when installing new apps.
