Cybercriminals seek to extort Fred Hutch patient for about $2M

Patients at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center are being targeted with extortion emails following a data breach last month. It’s claimed that the names, Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, medical history, lab results, and insurance histories of up to 800,000 patients may have been compromised. The center is currently investigating the breach and has alerted local and federal law enforcement agencies about the extortion attempts.
