Hackers ‘issue demands’ to IT supplier

The IT firm Advanced, provider of patient data for most NHS 111 providers and dozens of departmental health trusts, was attacked by hackers last week. Fears have arisen that the attackers have accessed sensitive and confidential health records. The hackers are now allegedly ransoming the company. Call handlers across 85% of the country are currently working without a key IT system, resorting to pen and paper operations. The National Crime Agency and GCHQ are investigating the incident.
