Ukraine’s defense intelligence directorate (GUR) claims it has breached key servers of Russia’s state tax service, infecting them with malware, and destroying databases and backups. The attack has reportedly resulted in the “complete destruction” of the agency’s infrastructure, and disrupted connectivity between its Moscow office and regional branches. Unverified reports also suggest that the agency’s services may remain paralyzed for at least a month. This marks the second time GUR has claimed responsibility for a major cyberattack on a Russian state agency.
