NHS attack shows a rising cyber risk in the global healthcare sector

Over one million patient records from around 200 hospitals managed by the University of Manchester were compromised in a ransomware attack. The victims were part of a research study by the university. Between 2022-2023, the global health sector experienced over 11 million attempted ransomware attacks and more than 271 million intrusion attacks, with a 35% increase in encrypted threats. Businesses are encouraged to develop prevention measures and robust roadmaps to handle such attacks.
